LALA PEEL, also written LHALA PEEL, is a peel developed by H2MEDI in Korea. It is designed to fill the skin instead of stripping it, and it has almost no downtime.

In Tokyo you can have it at LUJU, a hair salon in Ginza that is officially certified by H2MEDI. It takes about 1 hour and costs ¥15,000 before tax.

Quick answers

  • LALA PEEL and LHALA PEEL are the same product. The maker spells it LHALA PEEL.
  • There is almost no downtime. At LUJU you can put your makeup back on and go home as usual.
  • At a salon it is skin care, not a medical treatment. For skin trouble, see a dermatologist.

What LALA PEEL is

H2MEDI is a Korean company founded in 2018. LHALA PEEL is the main product of its brand LHALALA. The maker calls it a "fourth-generation, low-irritation peel". That is the maker's own name for it.

According to the maker, it combines three things: LHA, alkaline ingredients and lipids. In the treatment, two bottles called BASIC and ULTRA are applied one after the other with a brush.

The product is sold only to clinics and salons that have a contract with a distributor. You cannot buy it for home use.

How it differs from a classic chemical peel and an aqua peel

A classic chemical peel works by removing the surface of the skin. Redness or dryness can follow, and it usually settles in 2 to 3 days. LALA PEEL does not strip the skin to the point of peeling. Its main ingredient, LHA, is thought to loosen old surface skin little by little.

An aqua peel is a different treatment. It uses a device that applies a solution and suctions the pores. LALA PEEL is applied by hand with a brush, with no suction device. LUJU does not offer aqua peel.
